Central Fine Arts Academy
A Fine Arts Academy that serves the community and encourages growth through artistic expression within a faith-based environment.
Ignite your child׳s creativity through music, visual arts, and dance
Allow your child to explore their interests in a caring and safe environment.
Central Fine Arts Academy is a new resource for the Steele Creek community for quality music, art and dance instruction for elementary age students. The academy opened Fall 2019 and provides chorus and group instruction to allow students in Grades K through 5th to explore their creative interests in a safe and supportive environment.
The Central Fine Arts Academy is an outreach to the community by Central Steele Creek Presbyterian Church.
The Academy is under the direction of Ms. Lori Cauley. Ms. Cauley comes to the CFAA by combining her 28-year background in elementary music and administration experience.
Eight-week sessions will allow students to be introduced to musical instruments, an art focus or technique, and/or a dance style. Through this introduction in a small group setting, students can determine if the musical instrument or dance/art technique is one that they want to pursue further.
Initially, introductory music classes will be offered in violin and guitar. Higher levels and additional instruments will be added as students grow in their interests. Private lessons will be offered in piano and violin starting in January 2020.
Students will have the opportunity to try a range of visual and 3-D art techniques. Dance classes will emphasize expressive movement.
The Steele Creek Children׳s Choir will provide students the training and enjoyment of a chorale experience. They will be placed in the chorus based on auditions.
All students are expected to participate in the Showcase at the end of each session. This is an informal performance for family and friends.
All classes will be taught by qualified instructors in their field. All instructors will be evaluated for their expertise and teaching excellence to encourage elementary students. They must pass a background check.
Caring and Safe Environment
The Central Fine Arts Academy will be a caring environment for elementary students, encouraging creativity and growth in a faith-based community. The safety of students will be of utmost concern. All instructors and volunteers will undergo background checks and child safety training. We will follow the guidelines of the Presbyterian Church, USA which requires a second adult in each classroom. Careful drop-off and pick-up procedures for the students will be followed.
Parent Hospitality Room
Parents will be encouraged to stay during the classes and chorus. A lounge area will be set-up for parents with Wi-Fi access.
We will hold 6 week session online classes until further notice. We may adjust the length of online sessions as the year progresses or return to in-person classes when it is safe to do so.
August 17 - September 25
The academy will not hold classes if CMS has canceled school for that day.
