Pastor Luke H. Maybry
Rev. Luke H. Maybry was installed as Pastor at Central Steele Creek in March of 2008. Luke grew up in beautiful Campobello, South Carolina, a small town in the upstate. He graduated from Wofford College in May, 1998 and remains a proud Terrier fan.
After College he served four years in the United States Army at Fort Hood, Texas, and got out as a Captain in May, 2002. While he was in the Army, he felt called to ministry and enrolled at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in the fall of 2002. He graduated from Austin in 2006.
Prior to serving at Central Steele Creek, Luke served as a Parish Assistant at Matthews Presbyterian Church in Matthews, North Carolina, and as a Student Pastor at Mooreville United Methodist Church in Mooreville, Texas. He loves being the “Renaissance Man” as he calls it, that being a pastor affords preaching and teaching, pastoral care, theology, working with youth, being active in the community, and hearing some awfully good stories of what God has done. Most importantly, he loves looking around and seeing this new thing that God is doing and how all of us can be a part of it.
Luke is married to his college sweetheart, Leah Robertson, and they have two daughters, Julia and Caroline, and a son, Jack. Luke is an avid runner. He reads, plays bluegrass on his guitar, takes his dog on long walks, has a great time with his family (both in Charlotte and Campobello), and otherwise enjoys God's good creation.
